Emerging from the regional Mexican scene, Los Pikadientes de Caborca scored their first chart success with the 2008 single “La Cumbia del Río,” which climbed into the Top Ten. Viewers on YouTube propelled the track by uploading numerous lighthearted clips of themselves dancing to it. That online momentum caught the eye of Sony BMG, which promptly placed the group on its Norte imprint and mounted an aggressive promotional campaign across the U.S. market. Capitalizing on the single’s performance, the band delivered the full-length album Vámonos Pa'l Río later that same year.
