Mahalo

Mahalo, an electronic producer and DJ born in Hawaii and now based in California, emerged from the Los Angeles dance scene during the late 2010s with a luminous style of house music he called “liquid house.” Signed to imprints such as Perfect Havoc and Toolroom Records, he first gained notice through cuts including “Current Mood” and the Kadiri James–featured “Here with Me,” before broadening his reach with the streaming success “So Cold,” a 2019 collaboration with Lily Denning.

Deriving his alias from the Hawaiian word for gratitude, he relocated from the islands to the West Coast, where he began shaping his sound around 2016. International notice followed for the house track “Current Mood,” alongside “Move” and “Be My Love,” both spotlighting recurring partner Cat Lewis. In subsequent years he issued material on prominent dance imprints including AFTR:HRS and Armada Music while performing at gatherings such as Electric Daisy Festival and Groove Cruise. After the 2018 breakthrough of “Here with Me,” he issued multiple joint releases with Polish DJ Milkwish, and the Lily Denning–assisted single “So Cold” amassed substantial streams that further extended his global profile.
