Matt Brouwer, a Canadian singer/songwriter from Truro, Nova Scotia, built his reputation on powerful faith-based CCM albums that secured two GMA Canada Covenant Awards along with a Juno Award. His entry into music occurred during college in Alberta, where he and fellow students assembled the band Monday Night Worship. That project drew the interest of Nashville-based Christian label Reunion Records, which offered Brouwer a solo contract in 2000. His first release, the 2001 album Imagerical, produced two Top 10 hits on CHR radio and brought him an initial Juno nomination the next year. For his sophomore effort, Unlearning, issued in 2005, he established the independent imprint Black Shoe Records. The 2009 album Where's Our Revolution, put out through Universal Records, proved his strongest seller to date; its single "Sometimes" reached the Billboard Top 20 in 2010 and earned Brouwer the Juno Award for Best Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album. The 2012 follow-up Til the Sunrise performed nearly as strongly, collecting multiple additional GMA Covenant nominations and wins. In 2014 Brouwer delivered Writing to Remember, a greatest-hits compilation highlighted by the previously unreleased track "Waking Up."
