Long Island’s Matthew Koma began as a vulnerable singer-songwriter before emerging as a producer in heavy demand, working across projects with Bruce Springsteen, LMFAO, Kelly Clarkson, Tinashe, Hilary Duff, and Hardwell. Immersed in punk and rock & roll from childhood, he began composing songs at nine and secured a publishing contract by sixteen. After Jimmy Iovine placed him on Interscope in 2011, he released several tracks that generated early attention, culminating in his breakthrough success two years later. Teaming with Sebastian Ingrosso and Alesso, he co-wrote the single “Calling (Lose My Mind),” which featured Ryan Tedder’s vocals and marked his initial foray into high-profile EDM circles. A run of dance anthems followed, including the 2012 Zedd collaboration “Spectrum,” Alesso’s “Years,” “Sparks” alongside Nicky Romero and Fedde Le Grand, Tiësto’s “Wasted,” and “I Wish” with the Knocks. Additional writing sessions paired him with Giorgio Moroder, Steve Aoki, Afrojack, RAC, and Audien. In 2016 he joined RCA to issue his first full-length project, Eros Ludus. The record blended his pop-oriented songcraft with electronic textures supplied by Louis the Child, Jai Wolf, and Flux Pavilion, the latter trio contributing to the lead track “Kisses Back.”
