Melly

Mellyana Goeslaw came into the world on January 7, 1974, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Under the name Melly, the pop vocalist made her earliest mark on the local pop and rock circuit through Potret, the band she formed together with her husband Anto Hoed. Once that group receded from prominence, she continued forward on her own, issuing her first solo album, Melly, in 1999 after the trio of Potret releases titled Potret, II, and Café. The 2001 project From Dawn to Beyond came next, followed by her contribution to the soundtrack for the motion picture Ada Apa Dengan Cinta in 2002. Versed in an array of genres while concentrating chiefly on rock and R&B, she rejoined Potret for one further album in 2003 and then returned to solo work with Intuisi in 2005, also supplying a track that year to the Apa Artinya Cinta soundtrack.
