Biography
Mike Taylor crafts exuberant, uplifting dance-pop designed to unite listeners on the dance floor. While his tracks radiate a festive, sun-soaked energy, they also confront topics like social justice without hesitation. Growing up as the child of a jazz musician exposed him from the start to sounds that later shaped his artistic path. Though he focused chiefly on singer/songwriter work, he performed with multiple Philadelphia ensembles that moved across jazz, hip-hop, and rock. Those experiences, combined with admiration for the Roots, Paul Simon, and Richard Pryor, sparked his imagination and prompted him to organize local events that grew his following in the city. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2011, he built momentum through club appearances and the independent release of his single Dwntwn Kds in February of 2013. That exposure soon drew interest from prominent EDM producers, leading to vocal contributions on Vice’s “The World Is Our Playground,” Afrojack’s “SummerThing!,” and Panic City’s “Up All Night.” In early 2016 he joined Rostrum Records, which issued his follow-up solo single, Body High.
