Hailing from Los Angeles, Slimdan shapes a relaxed indie sound that merges luminous acoustic folk with a sleek modern pop finish. Born Daniel Silberstein and commonly known as Danny, he completed his schooling in Sherman Oaks before attending college in Boston and later returning to his hometown to launch a music career. Early on he operated primarily as a behind-the-scenes songwriter and producer, co-authoring Sasha Alex Sloan’s 2018 ballad “Older” and collaborating with Diplo, Ethan Gruska, and King Henry. In 2021 he joined Communion Records and issued his debut solo single, “MVP,” which was soon followed by the Garrett Nash—better known as Gnash—collaboration “Super Glue.” That same year’s five-track EP To Anyone Who Cares, released in 2022, spotlighted the singles “Be Somebody” and “Politics and Party Tricks” and coincided with a tour supporting Sasha Sloan. Further singles—“Problem Solver,” “Celebrity Lookalikes,” “Drank on Accutane,” and “Wienerschnitzel”—appeared across 2023 and 2024, culminating in the July 2024 arrival of his first album, Second Dinner.
