Biography
The metalcore outfit known as the Dead Rabbitts originated in 2011 as a side endeavor for Craig Mabbitt, the vocalist from Escape the Fate. Drawing on contributions from guitarist Alex Torres, who had previously played in Eyes Set to Kill, Escape the Fate bassist TJ Bell, and a succession of drummers, Mabbitt revisited the sonic approach of his prior bands Blessthefall and the Word Alive while blending in EDM components to refine the rough metalcore texture. In 2012, their crowd-funded EP Edge of Reality was released. Tragic Hero Records welcomed the group aboard the next year, leading to the 2014 issuance of their debut album Shapeshifter through that imprint.
