The Young Escape

THE YOUNG ESCAPE craft emotive indie pop distinguished by its faith-infused, electro-acoustic textures. The group first drew listeners online during 2017 while placing three Billboard Hot AC/CHR singles inside the Top Ten: “Good Life,” “Love Me Like You,” and “So Alive.”

Rooted in Riverside, California, the quartet consists of siblings McKenna Johns on lead vocals and keyboards, guitarist Ryan Johns, bassist Kyrsten Johns, and drummer Luke Johns. The family began performing together in grade school near 2010 and spent the following seven years refining their approach. Once they reached their teens, the siblings began composing original material that wove their Christian convictions together with bright dance-rock and electronica. After signing to Capitol in 2017, they released the singles “Good Life” and “Neverfade” and toured with Crowder. “Good Life” later climbed to number one on the Billboard Hot AC/CHR chart. In 2018 the band returned with the third single “Love Me Like You,” featuring nobigdyl, which also reached the top of the same chart. A year afterward they landed again inside the Top Five with “So Alive,” and the uplifting track “You Shine” surfaced in 2023.
