Biography
Formed in the opening months of 2006 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, This or the Apocalypse carved out a distinct identity within metal by showcasing uncommon technical prowess on their instruments and by folding in influences from thrash, death, groove, and math metal. These choices helped revitalize a metalcore scene that had grown stagnant. The band’s roster includes vocalist Ricky Armellino, guitarists Rodney Fields and Jack Esbanshade, bassist Sean Hennessey, and drummer Grant McFarland. After issuing their self-released debut Sentinels, the group signed with Germany’s LifeForce Records and drew wider notice with the strong follow-up Monuments in 2008.
