Biography
Born on Christmas Day in 1992 to an Indian mother and Irish father, Aodhán King grew up to serve as a worship leader and songwriter at Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. He is recognized most widely for his role in Young & Free, the Grammy Award-nominated pop ensemble tied to Hillsong and geared toward young believers. In 2024 he issued his first solo project, the album Beyond Us.
King entered Hillsong’s youth ministry in 2004. He subsequently taught himself guitar, moved onto the creative team, and rose to staff status. He co-founded Young & Free in 2012; the group’s contemporary pop aesthetic, built on guitars and electronics, soon resonated across the praise-and-worship landscape, sending the albums We Are Young & Free, Youth Revival, All of My Best Friends, and Todos Mis Mejores Amigos into the upper ranks of the CCM charts. As a frequent collaborator, King has appeared on tracks such as Hillsong United’s “Whole Heart (Hold Me Now),” Hillsong Worship’s “Touch of Heaven,” Cody Carnes’ “Take You at Your Word,” Benjamin William Hastings’ “While I’m in the Wind,” Elevation Worship’s “Great Is,” and LANY’s “Alonica.” Early in 2024 he unveiled the single “Thank You So Much Jesus,” the first release from Beyond Us, which followed in October.
