Biography
Ben Rue, recognized as a country singer, guitarist, and songwriter, spent his formative years in Silverton, Oregon, where he joined his two brothers tending the family’s 2,000-acre grass-seed farm. Music figured among his boyhood pursuits—he started writing songs before reaching his teens—yet baseball claimed equal attention, earning him a scholarship to Concordia University and a season in independent ball. Once he concluded that the major leagues exceeded his capabilities, he committed fully to music and began learning guitar during his sophomore year. By graduation he had formed a band and was playing local bars and clubs. A successful audition for The X-Factor followed, though he did not advance beyond the 80s; the experience nonetheless led him to relocate to Nashville in 2012. Two years later Sony Music signed him to a recording contract. His debut single, “I Can’t Wait (Be My Wife),” appeared in 2014.
