Biography
Bluff City emerged in the 2010s as an uncommon vocal R&B ensemble. Memphis natives Roney and Rakeem joined forces with Raleigh-Durham native Frank to begin cultivating listeners in 2013 via online uploads that included reinterpretations of timeless tracks, updated versions of recent hits, and a selection of original material. Houstonian Trevante, who had already put out solo recordings earlier that decade, became the fourth member, after which the Atlanta-based quartet scored its first commercial success with the ballad "Let Me Show You." The song was produced by Grammy-winning veteran Troy Taylor, whose past collaborators range from Boyz II Men and SWV to Aretha Franklin and Trey Songz, and who had also worked with Trevante as a teenager; it arrived in January 2018 and entered Billboard’s Adult R&B chart the following month.
