Biography
From the Italian term for "little twins" comes the fitting name of progressive house duo Gemellini, based in Sydney, Australia. Andrea and Davide Sartori, the identical brothers behind the project, first absorbed hip-hop and R&B before a Ministry of Sound compilation introduced them to electronic sounds and prompted them to start playing house records at neighborhood gatherings. Their sound, shaped by Swedish House Mafia, Erick Morillo, and Dirty South, emphasizes explosive energy through heavy basslines and tribal rhythms. In 2013 they issued their debut track, "This Love," which featured vocals from Matthew Sartori. That same year saw the release of the split single "In Love with a Stranger" alongside Moe Aly, again with Matthew Sartori handling vocal duties. The following year brought the double-sided release "Fat Panda" b/w "Jump." Growing recognition led to placements on prominent imprints, including the throbbing cut "Cavenda" on Sosumi Records' Future Stars EP and the propulsive "Jack It Up," issued by Atlantic/Big Beat in 2016. Later that year "Manga" appeared on Code Red's Gott & Blandat EP, while "Isla" was featured on Big Beat's Ignition: Amsterdam.
