Though initially establishing himself as a house producer, the multi-faceted Mexican musician Leon Leiden rose to prominence in Latin pop during the early 2020s, as singles such as "Gitana" and "Fondo de Bikini" accumulated tens of millions of streams. His trajectory began with work as a house-oriented DJ and producer who broke into EDM via the fast-paced electro house tracks "Obelisk" and "Lynx," then expanded his reach through remixes for Faul, Wad Ad, and Merk & Kremot. Throughout the mid- to late 2010s he partnered with performers including Chris Linton and ATL while his intense electronic style evolved into the lighter dance textures associated with figures like ODESZA. By 2020 Leiden had honed his abilities on vocals and instruments alike, channeling those skills into Latin pop and scoring early success with the downtempo cut "Gitana." After amassing a sizable social-media audience, he founded Laila Records that same year in partnership with Warner Music Mexico and Vago, then extended his Latin pop momentum via "Manzana" and "Fondo de Bikini." The year 2021 brought his debut album, El Morro Que Hace Música, a collection that wove together an eclectic range of genres within an airy pop framework and drew partly from material he had shared on social platforms.
