With roots spanning Detroit and Atlanta, Nasaan cultivates a distinctive hybrid approach shaped by trap alongside raw hardcore hip-hop. As the son of Proof from D12, he started sharpening his abilities during his teenage years and first appeared on record with the EP Kiss of Karma in 2019 before issuing the album Error 404 in 2024.

DeShaun Dupree Holton, better known as Proof and a close friend of Eminem as well as his bandmate in D12, was Nasaan Holton’s father. After Proof’s death in 2006 the family departed Detroit for Florida and ultimately established themselves in Atlanta. Nasaan’s early listening leaned heavily toward trap and Southern rap; he has acknowledged that D12 and Eminem’s music held little appeal for him in childhood, though he later came to value it. He began composing and laying down rhymes as a teenager, and in 2017 he placed second in Fresh Empire’s rap battle The New Wave Competition. Paul Rosenberg—Eminem’s manager and then chairman and CEO of Def Jam—signed Nasaan to the label, which released the EP Kiss of Karma in 2019. Following Rosenberg’s departure from the company in 2020, Nasaan issued several independent singles, among them 2021’s “Busy” (with SwaVay) and 2022’s “R.I.P Fresh.” He later aligned with Assemble Sound, an imprint connected to Atlantic, and delivered Error 404 in 2024. By that point he had returned to Detroit, where the project included appearances from several Michigan rappers such as Royce da 5'9", BabyTron, and Icewear Vezzo.
