Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, OG Boo Dirty first surfaced in 2010 through the mixtape Almost Famous, a collection of booming Dirty South rap beats crafted by DJ Scream. Born Lance Taylor, the rapper initially centered his narratives on the flashier elements of street existence—romantic pursuits, hustling, and loyalty to his circle—paired with heavy bass lines and memorable hooks reminiscent of T.I. and 2 Chainz. A shift occurred with his subsequent release, where deeper lyrical layers emerged and distinguished him. Early 2011 brought The Story of a G, which included appearances from Yung Joc, 8Ball, and King Azz Star alongside a revised take on "Like My Daddy" drawn from his debut project. That track traced Boo Dirty's childhood experiences and his longing for improved circumstances for his relatives, weaving in audio excerpts from talks with his young son. Amid the mixtape's tougher boasts and bravado, "Like My Daddy" revealed underlying regrets, setbacks, and forward-looking aspirations anchored in his child's promise. Akon eventually took notice, inking Boo Dirty to a deal once the rapper's time with Gucci Mane's 1017 Brick Squad concluded. While affiliated with 1017, he issued several further mixtapes including Born a Soldier, Die a Vet with Future and 2 Chainz, Definition of a G boasting Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame, and its sequel Definition of a G 2, before the partnership dissolved following Gucci Mane's 2014 imprisonment. Facing an unclear path ahead, Boo Dirty connected with Akon, whose interest was sparked by the grounded realism in tracks such as "Letter to My Brother" and "Like My Daddy." The signing to Konvict Kartel led to the release of Street Certified, featuring input from Akon, Young Thug, and Kevin Gates, with the single "Problems" issued as a promotional midtempo collaboration that paired Akon's characteristic vocals over Boo Dirty's reflective delivery. Billionaire Dreams arrived in 2016 as OG Boo Dirty's first official studio album, a trap-centric effort that continued balancing street assertions with optimism while recounting his battles to endure and support his loved ones.
