Alabama rapper Lil Bam drew significant notice thanks to the catchy cadence and ominous, trap-infused refrains on his 2019 track "Julio." The cut first surfaced on his 2020 mixtape Airport Baby, then reached a wider audience through a July 2020 remix that added Rick Ross and Jucee Froot.

Under the MBK4L imprint, the Birmingham native began issuing music on a broader scale in 2018 via the Hardhead mixtape. That seven-track effort gathered standout cuts such as "Rapper & Trapper," his joint effort with Lil Baby. In the following year he issued the Newborn mixtape, yet it was the single "Julio" that registered the strongest response, surpassing one million streams. Airport Baby housed that track alongside sixteen additional deliberate trap cuts and one guest appearance from fellow Alabama rapper Clever. While preparing a debut studio album, Lil Bam issued a remix of his signature song "Julio" that brought in iconic Miami rapper Rick Ross and Memphis-based Jucee Froot.
