Biography
An affiliate of Heavy Camp—the imprint led by Blac Youngsta—Memphis rapper Lil Migo commands an arsenal of shifting flows over bass-heavy, weighty productions. He carved a path through the trap underground via the consecutive 2021 mixtapes King of the Trap and King of the Trap 2, both boasting appearances from established figures such as Quavo and Yo Gotti. On the 2023 release Trap Tuition he chose instead to link with rising talents including Co Cash, SleazyWorld Go, Hunxho, and Lil Jairmy.
Raised on Memphis’s northside, Migo first turned to rapping after encouragement from a classmate. Following a short college stint he committed himself entirely to music and began navigating the city’s trap scene. His recorded output began in 2018 with the single “Gotta Be Dumb,” after which a series of tracks preceded his first mixtape, Voice of the Trap, issued in 2020. Joint efforts alongside Moneybagg Yo and Blac Youngsta lifted his visibility, culminating in a 2021 signing to Heavy Camp, Universal’s subsidiary run by Blac Youngsta. That same year he delivered his label debut King of the Trap, uniting with Yo Gotti, 42 Dugg, Rich the Kid, and prior partners Blac Youngsta and Moneybagg Yo. Mere months afterward came King of the Trap 2, which added Quavo and OG Da Juiceman to the roster. Throughout 2022 he issued multiple singles and expanded editions of earlier projects before unveiling Trap Tuition in October 2023, a collection marked by frigid instrumentals, his own stark verses, and contributions from the aforementioned up-and-coming guests.
