Only One Felipe

Only One Felipe blends a gruff delivery with melodic phrasing while reflecting an outlook shaped by Atlanta’s streets. Early promise on a pair of mixtapes secured him a solo contract with Republic, which issued his third project in three years, The Only One 2, in 2018; he later moved forward on his own with Thank You for Not Believing in 2020.

Phillip Stokes, the Atlanta native who records as Only One Felipe, first surfaced in 2016 on the collaborative mixtape A Eastside Story alongside GENIUS, also known as iAmTheGenius. The following year he released the concise solo effort The Only One, which contained no guest verses. After signing with Republic, he delivered his major-label debut single “Pocket” in May 2018, a laid-back, confident track produced by Tay Keith shortly after the producer’s Top Ten Hot 100 success with BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive.” Four months later Republic put out The Only One 2, featuring Bandhunta Izzy, Nessley, and Stoop Lauren. Felipe kept a lower profile in 2019, the year he launched Only One Records, then stepped up activity in 2020 with several standalone singles, the Only One Whippa EP recorded with Pyrex Whippa, and Thank You for Not Believing, his third solo full-length. The single “Tried” appeared in 2021.
