Biography
Led by vocalist Dariel Ramírez, the quartet Perdidos de Sinaloa has built a reputation as a prolific charting ensemble celebrated for its banda romanticas throughout Mexico and Southern California. Ramírez grew up in Mezquite Alto, Sinaloa, and after repeated failed attempts to gather musicians who shared his artistic direction he moved to Tijuana, drawn by its abundant performance prospects.
His first project was the trio Los Alegres. While employed at a seafood restaurant he persuaded the owner to let the group play for customers in exchange for tips. Displaying an entrepreneurial streak, he left that job and arranged to perform at numerous local restaurants, charging fifty pesos per song.
Still unsatisfied, Ramírez dissolved the trio, returned to Sinaloa to recruit fresh members, and, back in Tijuana, christened the new lineup Perdidos de Sinaloa. The name originated from a lighthearted episode in which his Sinaloan bandmates, unable to locate him, climbed a tower to scan the streets below.
The four-piece began playing street parties, restaurants, and cantinas. Their debut studio album, Soy Lo Que Soy, arrived in December 2015; two months later they issued the live set En Vivo Desde Las Pulgas de Tijuana. April brought both the studio release El Luchon and, one week afterward, the live album En Vivo Desde Los Mochis.
Rigorous touring followed across the region and as far south as Mexico City. In November the band entered the studio again and delivered two RB Music albums, Te Vas and Un Desengano; each climbed higher on the digital charts than its predecessor, prompting television and radio appearances as well as opening slots for major acts at festivals. Perdidos de Sinaloa received the Premios De La Calle award for best New Artist of the Year.
They maintained an even heavier schedule, performing throughout California, Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico before returning to the studio in May 2017 and releasing No La Hagas Sufrir the next month.
