Relic

Originating from the village of Argenteuil, French rap outfit Relic first assembled in 1996. Its core lineup brought together MCs Antar, Chodo, and Manscaro with DJ Soft, and the quartet logged several years contributing to numerous mixtapes plus an array of guest spots before securing placement on the prominent soundtrack for filmmaker Kader Ayd’s crime film Old School, released in the 2000s. Securing a formal recording contract required another four years, after which the group delivered its debut album Légende Urbaine in 2004 and scored a mainstream pop success with the clever single “Just Married.” Loin des Apparences arrived two years afterward.
