Sexual Democracia

Formed in 1988 by members then enrolled at Austral University in the southern Chilean city of Valdivia, the folk-rock group Sexual Democracia cut a demo that same year titled Los Chicos Buenos and quickly followed it with El Eslabón Perdido; both recordings later became collector’s items because none of their tracks received subsequent release. After inking a deal with Alerce, the band delivered its debut album Buscando Chilenos 1 shortly after a successful appearance at Viña del Mar’s Festival. In 1992 Buscando Chilenos 2 reached platinum status in Chile during an extensive national tour. The next year brought Sudamerica Suda, an album that carried the group past Chile’s borders for promotional shows, including dates alongside Caifanes in Mexico.
