An eccentric and flamboyant rapper from Baltimore, Shordie Shordie began his recording career as part of the rap trio Peso Da Mafia and moved quickly into solo work once the group issued its debut mixtape. The 2018 release Captain Hook presented his takes on romantic troubles and street life through an unusual lens and a notably gritty delivery that alternated between rapping and singing. Later projects arrived in the form of the 2021 collaboration Memory Lane with Murda Beatz and the features-heavy More Than Music, Pt. 2 in 2022, while he sustained a rapid release schedule that included the full-length A Life for Two in 2023 and Breath of Fresh Air the following year.

Born RaQuan Hudson in 1996 and raised in Baltimore, he showed almost no interest in rapping until he formed Peso Da Mafia in 2015 with his brother Lor Dee and their cousin PDM Purp. The group scored a regional hit with the 2017 single “Money Man,” boosted in part by its accompanying dance, and delivered its first mixtape Never a Drought in 2018 at the same time Shordie Shordie was already preparing solo material. Several singles followed that year, among them “Lonely” and “Holidays,” yet the melodic, trappy “Betchua (Bitchuary),” which addressed unfaithful partners, gained the widest traction after racking up tens of millions of streams in a brief period and immediately led to his debut mixtape Captain Hook.

His second mixtape >Music surfaced in 2020 and registered modest chart movement, while the third, the Murda Beatz collaboration Memory Lane, arrived the next year. More Than Music, Pt. 2 appeared in 2022 and featured appearances from Mozzy, Offset, and Rich Homie Quan. The 2023 full-length A Life for Two highlighted tracks such as “How High” and “Thug Life,” and October of that year brought a second joint project with Murda Beatz titled Memory Lane 2. Brief EP Welcome to Sin City, the expansive Memory Lane 2 Tour: Setlist, and the full-length Breath of Fresh Air all reached listeners in 2024.
