Shutdown

The year 1994 marked the arrival of Shutdown, whose founding members—vocalist Mark Scondotto, guitarist Steve DellaCroce, bassist Dion DeNardo, and drummer Jimmy McCormack—had yet to reach driving age and therefore struggled for credibility. Averaging only 15 years old, the group confronted the skeptical New York hardcore audience while drawing from the 88 hardcore style of Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Murphy's Law, and Warzone. Their refusal to adopt an aggressive, testosterone-driven posture led Victory Records to issue the band's first full-length, Against All Odds, in 1997 and the aptly named EP Something to Prove in 1999. Victory followed with the second album, Few and Far Between, one year afterward.
