Los Angeles-based trio the Americanos emerged through high-energy singles fusing electronic production with party-centric rap delivered by established guest stars. Following their 2012 hit "We Run L.A.," singer Louie Rubio and producer Lex Larson recruited DJ Felli Fel to create the new supergroup. Their singles routinely showcased guest rappers or vocalists ranging from Lil John to Lil Yachty.

The Americanos formed in 2012 soon after founding members Louie Rubio and Lex Larson had first worked together as Doc Hollywood. In that project the producer/vocalist duo scored a hit featuring guest rapper Ya Boy delivering rhymes over their glossy electronic beats. They then partnered with producer Felli Fel, who had previously worked with platinum-selling rappers like Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa, and together as the Americanos they refined that formula on new material. Their first release was the 2015 debut single "BlackOut." The amped-up drinking anthem featured Lil Jon, Tyga, and Juicy J and appeared in multiple TV shows and films including "We Are Your Friends" and "Office Christmas Party." They quickly signed to Atlantic and issued second single "In My Foreign (feat. Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Yachty, Nicky Jam & French Montana)" in 2016. The next year they released third single "Everyday (feat. DRAM & KYLE)" and in 2018 followed with "Never Understand (feat. Jeremih & Smokepurpp)" and "Money on You."
