Biography
Hailed by journalists as "the saviours of U.K. metal," the Defiled came together as a five-piece industrial-metal outfit in London in 2005 and wasted little time pursuing wider recognition through relentless touring across Britain. After a string of demos had already passed between the musicians and their listeners, the band issued its first official EP, 1888, in 2009. Two years later the group delivered its full-length debut, Grave Times; in an astute marketing move the record was given away free with an issue of Metal Hammer, after which a deluxe retail version followed. The same publication named the Defiled Best New Band at the 2011 Golden Gods ceremony. Extensive road work continued into 2012, encompassing a stop at South by South West plus support runs alongside Dragonforce and Gojira. Crowdfunding via PledgeMusic enabled the quintet to track its next album in Florida under producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, the Black Dahlia Murder). In March 2013 the band revealed its signing to Nuclear Blast, which issued the resulting sophomore effort, Daggers, that August.
