Biography
Born and raised in Wisconsin, CCM singer/songwriter Michael Gungor spent his early years directing worship services alongside his pastor father. Jazz studies followed at Western Michigan University and the University of North Texas; he later settled in Michigan and joined the youth ministry Acquire the Fire. There he assembled the self-described "liturgical post-rock" outfit the Michael Gungor Band, which issued Bigger Than My Imagination in 2003 and Ancient Skies in 2006. With his wife Lisa, Gungor eventually moved to Denver, Colorado, where the couple launched the Bloom community of believers; during the same period he shortened the group’s name to Gungor and released Beautiful Things under that new moniker in 2010.
