Young Boy

Alessandro Baris and Joseph Desler Costa operate the recording project Young Boy. The pair, who share a half-brother relationship, were parted during childhood and only reestablished contact after reaching adulthood. Costa grew up in the United States, where he gained recognition through his contributions to the Chicago experimental indie group L'Altra. Baris spent his formative years in Italy. Across an extended period the siblings maintained sporadic contact, united by a mutual passion for independent music. Both drew from overlapping reference points that included Love & Rockets, New Order, and the Italian film composer Ennio Morricone. They began trading original material across distances and eventually resolved to meet again in person for the first time since their youth in order to collaborate on new recordings. Costa journeyed to Italy in 2013; together the duo, performing as Young Boy, laid down their first album, Other Summers, alongside producer Ivan A. Rossi. The project subsequently joined the roster of the Texas independent label Saint Marie Records, which issued Other Summers in April 2014.
