Biography
Alex Lustig, a Belgian producer and electronic musician, has earned recognition as a sought-after collaborator and beatmaker whose work often explores experimental and atmospheric territories. Growing up in Antwerp, he first encountered music at age eight when his mother brought a piano into the household. Private lessons followed, and he frequently set aside school assignments in favor of extended practice sessions. Throughout his teens, conservatory training in the city allowed him to maintain classical technique while simultaneously cultivating an interest in electronic and hip-hop sounds.
Early exposure to Eminem and Kanye West prompted him to begin constructing his own beats on computer software. An ensuing struggle with anxiety disorder and panic attacks introduced him to ambient music, whose calming qualities proved restorative. From there his focus shifted toward sharper, trap-driven rhythms. Sending emails to hip-hop artists in search of collaborations eventually drew the notice of rapper/singer SRH, resulting in the mixtape No Big Deal. He also linked up with Hoodie Allen, supplying a substantial portion of the 2016 album Happy Camper. Additional credits accumulated with Dizzy Wright, Young Thug, Machine Gun Kelly, and further acts.
As his production range expanded, Lustig turned toward longer, more immersive instrumental pieces that functioned independently of rap frameworks. In 2016 he issued his first solo release, the ambient-electronica EP Pure, which contained the tracks “Light” and “Voices.” Subsequent singles included “Halcyon,” “Flaws,” and “Surreal” featuring NOVAA. Parallel studio work continued with Sonreal, French Montana, Alonzo, and additional artists. In 2018 he released the singles “In the End” featuring Akacia, “Colder,” and “Lies.”
