Alx Veliz

Alx Veliz infused rhythmic dance music with a multicultural perspective as a Canadian-Latin artist. Raised in Toronto within a musically inclined Guatemalan household, the singer began performing at an early stage of life. Songwriting and rapping occupied his time by age 10, while his teenage years brought deeper engagement with production and rhythm through bass and drumming. Universal Music signed him in 2015, after which his debut single “Dancing Kizomba” climbed the Billboard charts. The track took its name from the Angolan dance movement fusing Western ballroom elements with African traditions. Recorded in both English and Spanish, the single reflected Veliz’s aim to honor his heritage while broadening visibility for Canadian-Latin artists. Medy Landia handled production, merging upbeat energy with Veliz’s global approach.
