Biography
Ben Gallaher channels the drive and guitar force of a rock performer into his work as a country singer and songwriter, and his boisterous stories drawn from small-town existence have earned him a devoted audience. He was born and raised in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, where an early fascination with music took hold. At the age of six his parents presented him with a guitar, which he learned to play on his own. He continued with the instrument through subsequent years and began composing material shaped by the styles of 1990s country figures including Garth Brooks, Clint Black, Brooks & Dunn, and Tim McGraw, along with the soaring textures of classic rock. Upon finishing high school Gallaher hoped to relocate to Nashville, Tennessee, enroll at Belmont University, and focus on the music business. Initial rejection from Belmont led him to attend Penn State instead, yet after one year an opening arose for a transfer and he seized it without hesitation. Once in Music City he balanced coursework with performances, assembling a band and accepting every gig that fit around his studies. During 2014 he enrolled in an A&R administration course whose instructor developed an interest in his songs. Her assistance secured a recording agreement with Sony Music, freeing him to devote himself to music on a full-time basis. August 2017 brought the release of his first EP, titled Ben Gallaher, on the Sony-distributed Columbia Nashville imprint. The collection contained five tracks selected from the 150 he had prepared at the start of recording.
