Biography
Cale Dodds emerged toward the close of the 2010s as a country-pop vocalist whose relaxed delivery, subtle R&B inflections, and ability to soften bro-country bravado quickly drew notice. His first major-label single, “All Over,” appeared in 2017; afterward he continued spotlighting buoyant melodies on the independent releases “Livin’ That Good Life” in 2022 and “Never No” in 2024.
Before stepping in front of the microphone, the Columbus, Georgia, native had already established himself as a Nashville songwriter. After completing studies at Columbus State University he relocated to Music City in 2011. His breakthrough composition, “Drunk Dial,” was cut by A Thousand Horses in 2015; once the track climbed to number 23 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, Dodds secured a publishing agreement with Warner/Chappell. Twelve months earlier he had issued his first independent EP, Wild and Reckless. A second collection, People Watching, followed in 2016.
In 2017 Warner Nashville signed him and issued the singles “All Over” and “Out of My System,” then added “Take You Back,” “What We Gonna Do About It,” and “Where I Get It From” the next year. After the release of “I Like Where This Is Going”—a song he co-wrote with busbee and Nicolle Gaylon—Dodds and the label parted company.
He returned in 2021 with “You Shouldn’t Have” and “Doin’ It Right,” then joined the Boat Boys for “Current Situation.” The buoyant “Livin’ That Good Life” surfaced in 2022, “Live for Days” arrived in 2023, and Dodds independently unveiled “Never No” in May 2024.
