Biography
Frank Ray crafts songs that blend polished country-pop textures with Latin-inflected rhythms and the occasional bilingual lyric. A onetime law-enforcement officer raised in New Mexico, he first built a regional following before moving to Nashville, where BBR Music Group signed him and sent the 2021 single “Country’d Look Good on You” onto the charts; that track later served as the centerpiece of his self-titled debut LP, issued in 2023.
Born Francisco Gomez in Deming, New Mexico, the artist divided his early years between Texas and New Mexico, absorbing both mainstream country and ranchera traditions. Although music remained a constant interest, he initially pursued a career in law enforcement, serving as a police officer in Las Cruces while performing locally on the side. By 2017 the regional momentum he had generated prompted a full-time shift into music. Under the name Frank Ray he issued his debut EP, Different Kind of Country, that year. The breezy 2018 single “Tequila Mockingbird” gained streaming traction and convinced him to relocate to Nashville in search of wider opportunities.
In May 2021 he entered the BBR Music Group roster; the label first offered the bilingual Latin-country track “Streetlights,” then followed with the romantic “Country’d Look Good on You,” which rose to number 17 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. While he prepared his first full-length project, the 2022 EP Getcha Some appeared as an interim release. The self-titled album arrived in July 2023, showcasing an eclectic mix that touched on pop, Latin, and hip-hop elements yet stayed grounded in country.
