Taylor Character, an American DJ and producer, first gained notice by broadcasting DJ sets from her bedroom under the moniker HoneyLuv amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Success followed swiftly: the tracks “Your Tongue” and “Thr33 6ix 5ive” drew praise from BBC radio presenters in England, while festival appearances soon included Coachella, Brooklyn Mirage, and numerous other major events.

Her route to this point had taken unexpected turns. Immersed from childhood in ’80s and ’90s R&B alongside ’90s house, she initially chased prospects in basketball—cut short at college by a torn ACL—and then in the Navy, where she worked as a drone mechanic. Stationed in Los Angeles, however, she mastered the decks on her own, and within months she was performing at local parties. Lockdown in 2020 prompted a seamless shift to live streams that extended her reach far beyond the city; once live gigs resumed, she began opening for and working alongside Calvin Harris, Chris Lake, Seth Troxler, Idris Elba, and additional prominent DJs.

The year 2022 marked her decisive rise, anchored by three singles that resonated widely: “Your Tongue,” paired with a viral music video; “Thr33 6ix 5ive”; and the Dope Earth Alien collaboration “Sway,” which received heavy airplay on BBC Radio 1 and prompted DJ Danny Howard to hail her as the “future star of 2023.” Relocating to London to sustain that momentum, she has since released further collaborations, among them “Sex & the City” with Troxler and Paul Johnson in 2023, “Bring It Back” with Cakes da Killa the same year, and “This Is My Life” with Roland Clark in 2024. In 2024 she also introduced her own label and international DJ series, 4 the Luv, dedicated to highlighting talent from the LGBTQ+ community and people of color.
