Biography
Boston-based DJ and producer Joe Bermudez has reached the summit of Billboard’s club charts via his own material, crafted official reworkings for numerous chart-topping pop vocalists, and shared bills with leading figures across electronic music. After entering the industry through radio work, he began reshaping club playlists in the early 2000s with reinterpretations of tracks by P!nk, Céline Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff, and additional artists. Extensive road work followed, encompassing tours alongside David Guetta, Avicii, and the Chainsmokers plus support slots for Madonna and Lady Gaga. Turning to his own output, he issued the debut album New Ginza at Night in 2014 before securing his maiden Billboard number one via the 2016 single “Sunrise” recorded with Louise Carver. Subsequent releases have included the 2018 track “Crazy Enough,” “Teach Me” in 2020, and “Love in Code” in 2023.
Raised in Maine, he launched his radio career during the 1990s while still a teenager. His first position was board operator at WKZS in Auburn, Maine, where he soon launched the program Kiss Klub Night. He advanced to music director for the syndicated series Open House Party and later hosted mix shows on Ohio outlets as well as XM Satellite Radio. In 2001 he put out the progressive house compilation Circuit Sessions 9. His entry into production came through three remixes drawn from P!nk’s 2001 blockbuster M!ssundaztood, a project that led to further assignments for Mariah Carey, LeAnn Rimes, Shania Twain, and Britney Spears. Nervous Records issued his mix-CD Mass Movement in 2007, and he began hosting the worldwide syndicated program Mass Movement Radio the next year. Festival appearances have encompassed Ultra Miami and Electric Zoo, while 2010 found him supporting Lady Gaga on the Monster Ball Tour and 2012 saw him open Madonna’s MDNA tour.
Bermudez unveiled his debut album New Ginza at Night in 2014, enlisting vocal contributions from Louise Carver, Amanda Brigham, and April Efff. Additional remixes appeared before the uplifting 2016 collaboration “Sunrise” with Carver ascended to number one on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart. The 2017 follow-up “Ghosting” featuring Meg’n also claimed the top spot, and “Crazy Enough” released in 2018 marked his third chart-topper as well as Carver’s second. “Teach Me,” which included Paloma Rush, surfaced in 2020, succeeded by further singles such as 2022’s “Lose My Number” again pairing him with Carver and 2023’s “Love in Code” with Katie Sky.
