Biography
Born on June 14, 1992, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Joel Thomas Crouse grew up as the son of a preacher and first sang in church during childhood. His grandfather sparked his love of country music, while the storytelling focus in songs by the Eagles and Lynyrd Skynyrd helped create the relaxed, roots-driven foundation of his lyrics and sound. After learning guitar and piano, he composed his first song at age 14, formed his initial band at 15, finished high school at 16, and signed with Show Dog-Universal Music before reaching 20. The label put out his debut single “If You Want Some” in 2013, then released the follow-up “Why God Made Love Songs” early the next year.
