Levi Hummon crafts upbeat country-pop laced with an R&B pulse that echoes the rhythmic drive behind Thomas Rhett’s chart successes. His approach stands out through an instinctive affability paired with boundary-crossing pop leanings, qualities that surface clearly across the EPs Patient (2018) and 36/86 (2021).

Raised in a Nashville home filled with music, Hummon is the son of Reverend Becca Stevens and Marcus Hummon, the country songwriter who issued his own Columbia album in 1995. He began composing original material in childhood, yet set his guitar aside near the close of high school after family friend Desmond Child offered discouraging feedback. While majoring in visual arts at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, he resumed writing songs. After returning to Nashville and enrolling in songwriting courses at Belmont, he refined his work until Child responded positively, signing him to his publishing company and placing the father-and-son composition “Make It Love” in the 2013 documentary Two: The Story of Roman & Nyro, which chronicled the modern family Child created with his longtime partner.

The documentary increased Hummon’s visibility, leading to his co-write “Red, White & You” on Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler’s 2016 country album We’re All Somebody from Somewhere; the track reached number 46 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. That same year he joined Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine roster and released a self-titled EP in April. Online traction greeted “Love You Hate You Miss You,” yet the project as a whole made limited impact. Hummon moved to independent status in 2017, issuing the singles “Don’t Waste the Night” and “Stupid” while opening for Kip Moore, Michael Ray, and Kelsea Ballerini. Alison Krauss contributed vocals to his 2018 single “Love Heals,” one of several tracks that year that preceded the EP Patient.

“Nigh Lights” and “Drop of Us” appeared in 2019, joined by the Kira Isabella duet “We Should Be Together.” “Rock and Roses” and “Good Taste” followed in 2020, with the latter included on the 2021 EP 36/86. Also in 2021, Hummon collaborated with Walker Hayes on the single “Paying for It.” He opened 2022 with the buoyant track “Bottled Up.”
