Biography
Jordan Harvey traces his path into country music back to Edinburgh, Scotland, the city where he spent his childhood, rather than any Southern locale in the United States. While still based in the U.K., the singer and songwriter progressed through alt-rock and pop phases before relocating to Nashville, where he fused those pop sensibilities with country textures. Following his signing to BMG, he released the debut single “Alabama Girl” in 2022.
The artist grew up in the rural community of South Queensferry, located just west of Edinburgh. Country music had already captured his attention during childhood, and the working-class environment of his youth echoed the narratives he encountered in those American recordings. His formative influences stretched from Johnny Cash to Paul McCartney; by his mid-teens he was performing with the emerging alt-rock group the OK Social Club, which landed an opening slot for Simple Minds. He later shifted toward a pop-oriented solo career and, in 2017, competed on the BBC1 reality series Let It Shine. That longstanding pull toward country eventually drew him to Nashville, where he took on a variety of jobs and performed solo shows before joining the country ensemble King Calaway. Serving as the band’s guitarist and co-vocalist, he accumulated experience supporting Garth Brooks and appearing on American late-night and morning television programs. Harvey departed the group in 2021 and signed a recording contract with BMG, a label where he had already been active as a songwriter; “Alabama Girl” became his first single under that agreement.
