Biography
Drawing artistic inspiration from Soulja Slim and Gucci Mane while motivated by the achievements of YBN Nahmir, another Birmingham, Alabama native who had attended the same schools, Luh Soldier quickly secured a label agreement and released attention-grabbing projects including Out on Bond, Soldier Mentality, and NAW FR between 2018 and 2019.
Born Jamal Swain in Birmingham, he generated unexpected traction through Instagram freestyles that led to his signing with Cinematic Music Group in the late 2010s alongside Yungeen Ace, Lil Trevo, and Luh Kel. Following the added visibility from WorldStarHipHop’s placement of the “28 Bars” video, he issued his commercial debut Out on Bond in October 2018, a five-track EP fronted by the JayDaYoungan collaboration “45 and a Glock 9.” In the ensuing year he delivered the full-length albums Soldier Mentality and NAW FR, whose singles included “Contraband,” “10 Bands,” and “My Campaign.” Early 2020 brought a Young Dolph-assisted remix of the Soldier Mentality track “What Happened.”
