Biography
Hailing from Turkey, Mahmut Orhan crafts deep house and nu-disco productions frequently built around warm, rhapsodic melodies drawn from traditional Middle Eastern string instruments. Music releases began for him in 2011, after which his audience grew steadily until chart dominance arrived in multiple European territories through tracks like the 2016 single "Feel" and 2018's "6 Days." More than ten years of club-focused output preceded the arrival of his first full-length, Pangea, in 2024.
Born in Bursa, Turkey in 1993, Orhan had already been active as a musician for several years by age fifteen; the move to Istanbul came in 2011, coinciding with his start at a local nightclub. That same year saw the release of his debut single, the progressive house cut "Undesirable Life." Additional singles followed over the ensuing period, among them joint efforts with Turkish producers Boral Kibil and Deeperise, while his arrangements gradually shifted toward greater use of acoustic string parts and vocals, evident on material such as 2014's "Herneise."
The 2015 track "Age of Emotions," built on a violin sample taken from Canbaz's "More Ve Otesi," marked Orhan's first entry on dance retailer Beatport; he next teamed with singer Sena Sener for the single "Feel." The 2016 release achieved widespread international traction, reaching major chart positions in Greece, Russia, Bulgaria, and additional territories. Subsequent 2017 offerings included the instrumental "Game of Thrones" and "Save Me" featuring Eneli. Then came 2018's "6 Days," Orhan's reinterpretation of "Six Day War" by the little-known British band Colonel Bagshot (a composition previously sampled by DJ Shadow on his 2002 single "Six Days"), which topped charts in several countries. A compilation of selected remixes appeared afterward under the title One.
Work with vocalist Irina Rimes yielded the 2019 singles "Schhh" and "Hero," while "6 Feet" arrived that year in tandem with Thomas Newson and Jason Gaffner. Another Rimes collaboration, "Nu Vreau," surfaced in 2020, joined by the single "In Control" recorded with Ali Arutan and Selin. Reunion with Sener produced the 2021 track "Fly Above." Orhan joined dance-pop duo Sofi Tukker for 2022's "Forgive Me." Selin appeared on "Dönmem Ben Sana," and Drumstone supplied co-production for "Allies." Numerous singles issued throughout 2023 were later gathered on Pangea, his 2024 debut album released via Ultra Records. The project contained contributions from Kenan Bayramli, Botan, TUANA, and Ribale Wehbe together with a club edit of "6 Days."
