Biography
Mike Donehey has built a multifaceted career as a singer and songwriter, guitarist, author, and podcaster. Over twenty years he served as a founding member of the Dove Award-winning Christian rock band Tenth Avenue North before stepping into solo work in 2020.
Nebraska marks his birthplace, yet he grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. There, while recovering from a near-fatal car crash during his early teens, he taught himself to play guitar. Once his skills sharpened, songwriting followed, which in turn led him to assemble Tenth Avenue North. The group took its name from a road in Palm Beach County and, operating out of Florida, became one of contemporary Christian music’s most prominent acts. Their independent debut, the 2003 album Don’t Look Back, launched a lengthy and celebrated run that ended when the members chose to disband in 2020.
The preceding year, Donehey issued his first book, Finding God’s Life for My Will: His Presence Is the Plan. He also introduced the podcast Chasing the Beauty and began writing and tracking his initial solo project. That album, Flourish, appeared the next year.
