Selfish Things delivers candid, angst-filled tracks that lend a more intense edge to influences rooted in alternative rock and emo pop from the turn of the millennium. Songwriter Alex Biro assembled the group in the mid-2010s, and the band introduced its first full-length effort, Logos, in 2019.

After gaining experience in multiple alternative acts across Toronto and Los Angeles, Biro returned to his hometown of Mississauga, Ontario, in suburban Toronto during 2015 and launched Selfish Things. He took the project name from a line in the Jimmy Eat World track “23,” issued the single “Spooky Action at a Distance” that same year, and recruited lead guitarist Michael Ticar, rhythm guitarist Cam Snooks, and drummer Jordan Trask the next year.

In 2017 the band put out the EP Six Songs and supported Simple Plan on a Canadian tour. Its follow-up EP, Vertical Love—produced by James Paul Wisner (Dashboard Confessional, Paramore)—appeared in March 2018, with Vertical Love: Reimagined arriving midway through the year. Selfish Things then recorded its debut album under Drew Fulk (As I Lay Dying, Chelsea Grin). Featuring contributions from Spencer Chamberlain (Underøath), William Ryan Key (Yellowcard), and Andy Leo (Crown the Empire), Logos surfaced on Pure Noise Records in 2019.
