Biography
Sleeper Agent fuses the buoyant melodies of pop-punk with the bold attitude of garage rock, propelled by forceful guitars, frenetic drive, and expansive anthemic hooks. The Bowling Green, Kentucky outfit started as a duo of singer/guitarist Tony Smith and drummer Justin Wilson. After Smith and Wilson encountered singer Alex Kandel delivering Adele covers at a neighborhood open-mike night, they opted to enlarge the group. Keyboardist Scott Gardner, guitarist Josh Martin, and bassist Lee Williams were then brought in, completing a six-member lineup. An introduction from fellow Bowling Green musicians Cage the Elephant brought the band to producer Jay Joyce’s attention, prompting an invitation to record their debut album Celabrasion at his Nashville studio; the set appeared in 2011 on Mom & Pop Records. Following a move to RCA Records, the group delivered its second album About Last Night in 2014.
