Biography
Virtue arose as a gospel-infused contemporary ensemble echoing the harmonies of En Vogue and SWV while drawing extra depth from the conviction of its members' faith. Karima Kibble, spouse of Take 6's Joey Kibble, assembled the group alongside her sister Ebony Holland, Negelle Sumter, and Shavonne Sampson. Once the quartet secured a contract with Verity Records, it issued a debut album shaped by production from Commissioned's Mitchell Jones and contributions from Mark and Joey Kibble. Get Ready arrived as the follow-up in 1999, aligning with the arrival of Heather Martin, another Trotter sister. Steady releases continued through 2006, an era capped by the Dove-winning Free (2003) and the Grammy-nominated Testimony (2006). Kibble, Holland, and Martin stepped back from recording to focus on family life, only to reemerge nearly ten years later via Testimony Reloaded (2015) and Fearless (2016).
