Florida rapper Bobby Fishscale lays down intensely concentrated verses atop trap instrumentals shaped by pop-oriented production choices. After cultivating an early following in his hometown, he secured a recording contract with Jay-Z's Roc Nation in 2019 and later joined forces with Quavo, Juicy J, and Mozzy on the 2021 project The Evolution.

Born Darryl Thomas in Quincy, Florida, he absorbed the music of James Brown and Michael Jackson from his father's record collection, which sparked his own interest in songwriting. The artist, who had already been penning lyrics throughout high school, drew his first widespread notice with the 2019 track "Hov Flow." Over that single he delivered rhymes across Jay-Z and Eminem's "Renegade," and the resulting attention, paired with the reception of his debut mixtape Big Fish, prompted offers from several labels. He ultimately chose Roc Nation and began steadily expanding his recorded output.

Late in 2020 he unveiled the three mixtapes The Last Re-Up, Super Fishy, and Da Relapse, each built around tales of hustle, buoyant boastful rhymes, and forceful trap beats. That same year he was presented with the BMI R&B and Hip Hop Social Star Award. In 2021 he earned a prominent slot on the Rolling Loud Festival lineup and issued the new projects Tilapia and The Evolution; the latter leaned further into pop-friendly arrangements and included appearances from Mozzy, Zaytoven, Quavo, and additional guests.
