Florida rapper Bobby Fishscale lays down intensely concentrated verses atop trap instrumentals shaped by pop-oriented production choices. After cultivating an early following in his hometown, he secured a recording contract with Jay-Z's Roc Nation in 2019 and later joined forces with Quavo, Juicy J, and Mozzy on the 2021 project The Evolution.
Born Darryl Thomas in Quincy, Florida, he absorbed the music of James Brown and Michael Jackson from his father's record collection, which sparked his own interest in songwriting. The artist, who had already been penning lyrics throughout high school, drew his first widespread notice with the 2019 track "Hov Flow." Over that single he delivered rhymes across Jay-Z and Eminem's "Renegade," and the resulting attention, paired with the reception of his debut mixtape Big Fish, prompted offers from several labels.
