Biography
DC the Don blends trap and rage sounds with melodic elements drawn from emo, punk, alternative, and pop. The Milwaukee-raised artist, born Daijon Davis, first drew widespread attention after issuing “Everything 1K” in 2017. Early singles paired abrasive 808-driven production with rapid-fire rhymes, leading to partnerships with Trippie Redd and YBN Almighty Jay and the arrival of Come as You Are in 2020 plus the expansive My Own Worst Enemy in 2022. Rebirth, his most varied project to date, surfaced in 2024.
At sixteen, Davis relocated from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Los Angeles intending to play basketball, yet his parallel passion for rap soon prompted a full commitment to music. Following the 2017 release of “Everything 1K,” which was licensed for a television advertisement, he unveiled the horror-themed debut EP Halloween on 47th St. a few months later. Subsequent online tracks accumulated millions of streams, paving the way for the 2019 EP DC Fridays and, the next year, his first album Come as You Are. Crafted with producers Trademark and Garza, that project featured guest appearances from YBN Almighty Jay and DDG; a deluxe edition added five further songs several months afterward. Throughout 2021 he issued numerous singles and joined Sad Frosty on “Beavis and Butt-Head” as well as jetsonmade on “REROUT3.”
He opened 2022 with the double-persona sophomore set My Own Worst Enemy, which introduced the alter egos Donny and Rag3 Kidd. A mixtape titled Sacred Heart followed and was expanded into Sacred Heart (+) early in 2023. Funeral, his third studio album and a response to the passing of Sad Frosty, arrived in May. After Sacred Heart 2 and the 2012 EP, DC the Don delivered his fourth full-length, Rebirth, in 2024, showcasing some of his most vulnerable vocal work alongside material informed by punk, R&B, and Afrobeats.
