Biography
Emerging from Georgia, Dylan Marlowe crafts country songs that fuse an organic trad-country approach with the drive of Southern rock. His profile rose sharply in 2020 once a countrified take on Olivia Rodrigo’s “Driver’s License” spread rapidly online, prompting a run of original releases that included the 2022 heartache ballad “Why’d We Break Up Again.” The next year brought his major-label debut EP, Dirt Road When I Die, anchored by the hit single “Record High.” Later in 2022 he scored another success with Dylan Scott on “Boys Back Home,” a track later featured on his 2024 debut album, Mid-Twenties Crisis.
Statesboro native Marlowe absorbed the hard-rocking neo-traditional sounds of Kenny Chesney and Eric Church while growing up. He moved to Nashville shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic began, concentrating on songwriting and industry connections. For fun he cut a revved-up country version of Olivia Rodrigo’s pop hit “Driver’s License,” which quickly accumulated millions of streams. Determined to build something more lasting than a viral moment, he turned to his own material. The 2021 singles “All About It” and “I’ll Keep the Country” revealed a singer whose raw, aching delivery paired relatable lyrics with memorable melodies. In 2022 he issued “When I Look Back” and “Why’d We Break Up Again,” along with “Last Night Lonely,” which he wrote for Joe Pardi and which topped Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
Early in 2023 Marlowe signed with Sony Music Nashville and released “Record High,” the lead track from his debut EP, Dirt Road When I Die. That October he joined fellow songwriter Dylan Scott for “Boys Back Home,” an upbeat weekend anthem that climbed into the Top 40 of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Early 2024 saw the quieter follow-up “You Did It.” While on the road with Dan + Shay he kept issuing singles such as “Devil On My Shoulder” ahead of his first full-length project. Mid-Twenties Crisis arrived that September and included a guest appearance from Riley Green.
