Fresco Trey, hailing from Memphis, fuses emotionally open R&B vocals with intense trap beats, crafting tracks that range from deeply reflective to uplifting. A track of his exploded in popularity on TikTok, drawing additional fans to his distinctive style fusion and spurring further output such as the 2022 EP Heartbreak Diaries 2 along with tracks including the 2023 release "Back in My Shell" under Warner Records.

His entry into music came via a birthday present from his sister consisting of recording studio access. Prior to this, he had aimed for a career in basketball, yet the appeal of 2019's "By My Side" and the melodic, summer-vibed 2021 single "Feel Good" led to label interest, resulting in a deal with Warner Records and a pivot to music. An updated version of "Feel Good" that included Lil Tjay expanded his reach, leading to the assembly of earlier releases into the 2021 EP Heartbreak Diaries to build on the growing interest. Prior to its formal launch, the 2022 track "Need You" accumulated tens of millions of TikTok views, heightening excitement around the artist. Heartbreak Diaries 2 arrived in 2022 featuring a joint effort with Vory. Subsequent independent releases followed, among them "Vegan" in 2022 and "Pull Up" in 2023 that included Brezay.
