Originally hailing from Hoboken, New Jersey, Mike Gazzo works as a DJ, producer, remixer, and songwriter and is known almost exclusively by his last name. Although his output spans multiple genres from electro through drum'n'bass, the tracks that have drawn the widest notice are his radio-friendly progressive house and dance-pop productions, many of which feature strongly emotional, sentimental guest vocals. He first began circulating tracks and remixes online in 2011 and soon attracted coverage from music blogs. By 2014 original material had appeared on both Fedde Le Grand's Flamingo Recordings and the Dutch imprint Armada Trice, while official remixes had been delivered for Ariana Grande and Rudimental among others. The remix that first generated substantial momentum, however, was his version of Y Luv's "Never Touch the Ground," a track originally made in 2012 yet not issued until Casablanca released it in 2015. Subsequent singles on the same label included "Rewind," a collaboration with Kap Slap, and "What You Waiting For," which featured Sugarwhiskey, alongside the 2016 EP Evolution. Independently issued in 2017, the single "Heart Won't Beat," a joint effort with Aja9, went on to receive notable radio airplay.
